Learn Japanese

The older but still in print book "Learn Japanese" New College Text Volume 1 (grammer and Kana) and Volume II (Kanji) from Univeristy of Hawai Press is, I think, best of the college style text books with good explanations, patterns and idioms.

I think it is best for older students who need the explanations or for students that learned some other language from a standard US college structural pattern type text book.
