Review of Philips Language System - Japanese by John Reeves

Six levels, from elementary to advanced. Exercise book, picture book, text and tapes. Roughly 100 hours worth of study material per level. Generally, each lesson contains a brief narrative, colloquial expressions and question/answer sections. Kana/kanzi or romazi.

An extremely valuable source of useful material. Fairly well structured, and interesting to use. Based on "real life" situations rather than artificial assumptions about what students of Japanese want to know. Very weak on grammatical explanations and should be supplimented with a traditional-style textbook. Excellent resource for exchange lessons.
