Eru

Eru (得る) is a verb which attaches to the i stem of other verbs to make a meaning "possible" or "not possible" in the negative. It can also be pronounced uru. A common Japanese phrase is arienai from the verb aru which means "it isn't possible" or "you must be joking!".
