Large numbers
Japanese uses the Chinese counting system for large numbers based around tens of thousands. Ten thousand is one man (万), and larger units increase from this. For example, a million is hyakuman or "one hundred man". Ten million is "one thousand man" and a hundred million is 1 man × 1 man = 1 oku (億). There are special kanji as the numbers increase.
