Particle o

The particle o, usually written with the kana wo (を), and sometimes pronounced wo, indicates the direct object of a verb. It also
  • indicates the subject of a causative
  • expression
  • indicates an area traversed
  • :Kōen o sanpo shita "We walked through the park".
  • indicates a time (period) over which action takes place
  • indicates point of departure/separation of action
  • (see particle ga
  • ) indicates object of desire, like, hate etc.
  • :kimi o suki de yokatta "I'm glad I love you"
  • is used in forming various expressions that use suru
  • is used with a noun that has the meaning of a verb in various sayings
  • The difference depends on the verb used.
