Daiji
Daiji (大字) are substitute versions of numbers used in financial situations to prevent cheating by the alteration of a kanji. For example, a kanji one 一 can easily be altered to become two ニ or three 三. With the daiji the numbers become one 壱, two 弐, three 参, which are much harder to fake.
Daiji appear on bank notes and so forth.
