Shimau

Shimau (しまう) is a verb-ending verb which often comes after the te form of other verbs. It can also be colloquial contractions with the te form to make a shorter version.

Contracted with another verb like this, it means "to have finished doing" something or "to have done something and regretted it". Which one of these it means must be decided based on the context.

There is also a separate verb shimau which means "to tidy away".
