Review of Kanji Pict-o-graphix by Stefan A. Buchta

As others have pointed out on this list, "Kanji-Pictographics" and also "Remembering the Kanji" are very good books as long as you use them as a tool among other tools when memorizing Kanji's.

They are not very good for learning the On-and Kun-Readings and also not suitable if you are interested in the proper way Kanjis are formed by radicals. For this purpose it's better to consult one of the many existing Kanji- dictionaries (Michael Rowley points this out in his foreword).

I myself studied Kanji with Michael Rowleys book and found it VERY helpful. E.g. the character for "GAI, GE", "Outside" and "Undo" is very easy to remember if you have looked at Michael Rowley's picture - even though his picture does not "stick" to the original meaning of the two radicals involved.

I don't know the author and I also have no ties to the publishers but I nevertheless very much recommend this book as a tool amoung others when learning kanji.
