Review of Gendai Yougo Kiso Chishiki by Maiko Covington

This is a dictionary/encylopedia of the words originating in recent times that appear in the newspaper that you really need to know to be up on current events. So for example, you can look up "Dokuritu Kokka Kyowakoku" and it will have it in there as "Confederation of Independent States" (this dictionary often lists an English meaning for words) and will also tell you how this new nation was formed, etc. There is an index in the back by reading, but otherwise the words are arranged by subject. I really wish there was a similar book for English!!!! This comes out once a year and it is 2000 yen. It is a large paperback. LARGE. It is also fun to look in the "new slang words of youth" section and laugh. There are also sections on new fads and stuff like that that is funny.
