Review of Jitsuryoku Appu! Nihongo Nouryouku Shiken Bunpou/Goi-hen Speed Learning! The Preparatory Course for the Japanese Proficiency Test; Grammar and Vocabulary Edition Levels 1 and 2 by Tammy Morimoto

Like the title says, covers grammar and vocabulary for levels 1 and 2.

Personally, I prefer the basic "Jitsuryoku Appu!" books, separated by level. I thought this was a little difficult when I was studying for level 2, and too easy when studying for level 1. Main gripe is that nothing clearly indicated which words were important for students at that level. On the other hand, I did notice a big improvement in my Japanese ability (either that or the book got easier as I went along, and that would be wierd). However, I believe the improvement was probably due to the fact that I was being challenged with level 1 words. There is plenty of interesting information in the book for advanced students, but I don't recommend it for level 2 people, unless you're bored and want something more challenging. As I mentioned earlier, it seems a little boring for level 1 people. Of course, this could have something to do with the fact that I read it when studying for 2, maybe the opinion of someone who bought it when they were studying for 1 would be in order? Maybe a good book for those in-between levels, who barely squeeked by level 2, and are aiming their sights at 1?
