9. Names
If Japanese writing is complicated (see 1. Writing) then
Japanese names and their writing are even more complicated. Even the
correct way to say `I' and `you' is fraught (see 9.1. What are the personal pronouns of Japanese?).
Reading a Japanese name can sometimes be impossible (see 9.2. How can I read a Japanese name?). However the FAQ also includes a guide to
understanding the Japanese naming system in 9.3. How do Japanese names work?. For
those who are thinking of bilingual names for babies or those who are
just curious there is also 9.5. What personal names are the same in Japanese and other languages?
